We've now done some of the audience theories in a little more detail, and you should all have a better understanding of reception theory, and of how different audiences may view things.
This week your homework is to produce a case study of one type of representation in the Media, and present it to the class, either just on your blog, or using a power point, next week.
Possibly studies to do would be:
- Representation of War in video games
- Representation of women in reality TV
- Representations of children in soaps.
- Representation of men on news
- Representation of London in newspapers.
It's up to you but it should include:
- At least 3 different texts
- Clips to show your classmates
- Links to theories, specifically audience theory.
- Some analysis.
- Links to wider issues and debates.
