Further Careers

I've been thinking a lot recently about the careers that some of you guys might go into, and whether or not some of you may choose a media based career as the path to go down.  All I ever wanted to do when I was young was work in the media, although it turns out I prefer teaching it!  This article here is interesting because despite many people being derogatory about Media Studies, it turns out graduates in that subject are more likely to be employed after University!  Great news

I think that if the subject is something that you enjoy, or if you find a little bit in a lesson that really interests you, you should persue it.  You never know where you might end up but getting experience now will help you to be able to make informed decisions in the future.

Next week we have a man from a film production company called 'Another Film' coming in to speak to you.  Think about anything you might ask that relates to your case study, or anything you might ask that relates to you personally.  Is there anything that you would like to know?

Today I am sitting with my media class whilst they try to analyse the opening of television shows.  Josh's music is too loud, some people are using Wikapedia (their best friend) too much, but at least the room is warm and the builders aren't banging.

My advice to all media studies students today is to listen to the Radio 4 Media programmes because it is full of great information that you can use in your exams.  Go onto the radio 4 website and have a look at the podcasts section.
